CitSci India 2020
CitSci India 2020
The conference on Citizen Science for Biodiversity: CitSci India 2020 was a first-of-its-kind conference on citizen science for biodiversity in India. The conference was held virtually between Sept 28 and Oct 1, 2020 over Slack. Registration was free of cost. With over 80 contributed presentations and 7 plenary sessions, participants from across India and a few from outside the country came together under one platform to share their knowledge, experience and resources in citizen science.
The objectives of the virtual conference were:
- To provide a platform to showcase existing citizen science projects.
- To discuss the scope and opportunities and the ways in which policies and practices in the areas of citizen science approaches in biodiversity can be made more inclusive.
- To outline recommendations from experts and contributors in this field which will influence how the forthcoming NMBHWB will engage with citizen science in India.
